Google Apps Business Email: Should i switch or not?
By indraneel
More than two million companies have taken their corporate email domain over to Google Apps. The results they have been having are impressive as well. Now, what’s troubling you is that if switching to Google Apps Premier would be a good move, especially since all your employees are so used to Microsoft Exchange after using it for so long. After all, you don’t want to make a rash move that might slow down their work.
But let me tell you something straight; there’s no way Google Apps is going to hinder their productivity. In fact, it will boost their working speed and quality by making their tasks more interesting and innovative.
The interface of Google Apps is made in a way so that it works easily from a browser. And there are many other features that make it for them to execute their work.
They have a huge amount of storage now- 25 GB, compared to Exchange’s 1 GB- so they can concentrate on tasks at hand rather than managing their inbox space. There is direct-from-mailbox video chat support and a complete productivity suite Docs available right there a click away. These are luxuries they never had in Exchange.
To further boost the working speed, there’s Wave that has real time text support. Now they can collaborate on projects way easier and faster than before.
And apart from these factors that make work better, Google Apps Premier Edition comes with an unbeatable security system reinforced by Gmail’s spam filter as well as Postini. Now you can rest peacefully; your data is completely secure from hack attacks or other kinds of theft.
And Google Apps eliminates halts in your work because of unplanned downtimes. In fact it comes with a guarantee of being up and running 99.9% of the time. Exchange can’t even dream to match that figure.
And finally, the cost - Exchange comes for $10 per month per user, $120 a year. Google Apps, however, has a straight price of $50 per year per user; way cheaper than Exchange. The unbeatable service comes with an unbeatable price, too.
So, should you switch? Well, if you do, you get better service at less than half the cost. What does logic say?
So now you have decided to switch to Google Apps, you can get help with migrating from exchange to google apps from google apps partner.Google Apps Related Articles

Hi Marty,
Google has come with a feature called google labs for people who are actually adapted to outlook, its nested folders, etc.. with google labs enabled you can actually have Nested Labels and google also provides a tool for users who prefer to work in outlook.. it syncs everything from outlook to google apps servers.. folders to labels and labels to folders back...
just so we are fair...
-exchange has no mailbox size limit of 1GB, not sure how you figured that out. Limit is what you set it to be or the size of your disk (at least in exchange 2003>). Don't confused PST and mailbox and even PST files had 2GB limit back in a day...so that 1GB number is purely fictional.
-99.9% of the time. Exchange can’t even dream to match that figure.
Really? How so? Setting up a cluster will give you just that....guys at google are not gods they simply have farms of servers and to you seems like 99.9 up time.

Google Apps really has pushed online email. I'm old fashioned, however, and I can't seem to get used to the gmail archive system & labels rather than using a system of nestable folders (I know, labels are actually better...but I can't seem to get used to it anyways).
